Morning coffee with John Robins, Joy’s brother.
Roxby is neat tidy town. Not a tourist town. Very much a company town. Lots of empty shops as the numbers of workers has reduced in recent times.
Headed off to Andamooka. 30km away. Another opal mining town. Fascinating place. Several old miners houses remain in the main street. They certainly lived under harsh conditions. Another 17km east to Lake Torrens. Water in the northern part of the lake. Heaps of solid salt though. Got a puncture on the way back. Not surprising considering the track. Windy and dusty again tonight. Tomorrow we will call into Woomera as we head south, then the arid lands part near Port Augusta eventually overnight at Quorn for 2 nights.
